COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

In collaboration with the local community, our Kanata Research Park development provides a venue for a number of community events throughout the year including craft fairs; charity fund raising drives and blood donor clinics. Small businesses in the community are able to rent kiosks on a day- to- day basis to cater to both the building’s tenants and the local community.

Built within the Kanata Research Park are a network of trails that allow tenants and the community to enjoy the park’s natural setting. These trails also tie in to the City’s network of bike paths allowing employees in the park an alternate means of commuting to work. In addition, Kanata Research Park provides outdoor skating rinks for everyone to enjoy throughout the winter season as well as groomed cross-country ski trails set on the Marshes Golf Course.

As developer of the Brookstreet Hotel, KRP Development Group purchased in excess of 1,200 pieces of art from students of Cantebury High School (a local high school known for its art program) to support young local artists. Artwork from these students is the only artwork used in furnishing the hotel's common areas, convention centre, and 276 guest rooms.

In development of the Kanata Research Park, a number of storm water ponds were incorporated not only for visual effect, but also for the preservation of wildlife. Construction of the Marshes Golf Course, which is at the centre of the 566 acre development, was done by working closely with the Audubon Society to create a golf facility that exceeds the standards set out by the Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary Systems of Canada.

KRP employees actively participate and contribute to the United Way's annual campaign to support local charities in the Ottawa Region.

KRP staff organize and participate in a local high tech softball tournament raising money in support of local charities.
